Source Motorcycle Parts from China (Day 2): Buy Samples, Factory Visits

Hi everyone,

My name is Nuno Castro. I’m Colombian-Portuguese and have spent most of my life here in China. 

Today was another productive day working with my Brazilian client here in Yiwu.

After being happy with the service and support I provided yesterday, the client decided to take the next step and expand our cooperation.

He asked me to help identify factories for him to visit over the next few days, as well as arrange samples from different manufacturers.

The goal was to source samples from 10 different factories, including motorcycle exhausts and mufflers, cosmetic parts, and fiberglass needle mats.

Before moving forward, I wanted to make sure that the suppliers we were dealing with were legitimate manufacturers and not simply trading companies.

I spent approximately five hours researching suppliers, gathering information, and verifying that the factories were actually producing the products our client was looking for.

This is an important part of the sourcing process because finding a supplier is only the first step — making sure you are dealing with the right factory can make a huge difference when it comes to quality, pricing, communication, and long-term cooperation.

After completing the factory verification, I spent another two hours communicating with the client, confirming the sample requirements, finalizing the orders, and processing the payments with the factories.

By the end of the day, we had successfully arranged everything the client needed and made sure that all of his requirements were covered.

One thing I was reminded of today is that every client comes with a different level of knowledge, experience, and understanding of the sourcing process.

Some clients know exactly what they want, while others may need more guidance when it comes to choosing suppliers, understanding MOQs, evaluating factories, or deciding which products are worth testing.

That is where our role becomes especially important.

Our job is not simply to find factories and place orders. It is to listen, understand what the client is trying to achieve, provide guidance, and help turn their ideas into a practical sourcing plan.

Every client has different needs and goals, and our responsibility is to do everything we can to help them achieve them.

Another successful day in Yiwu, and I’m looking forward to the factory visits and sample inspections coming up over the next few days.
